While attending university, Ruby studied abroad and experienced immigration as an international student.After graduating, Ruby worked in an international student office, worked on a committee that helped create DHS post-9/11, and eventually went to law school, looking to combine her language skills, cross-border experiences, and interest in politics to become an immigration lawyer.Along the way, Ruby started to focus a lot on helping other practitioners build their firms, which turned into writing a book on practice management, serving on panels, and ultimately launching Powers Strategy Group, to help immigration lawyers grow through tech and business best practices.
