Looking at the story of Jesus calming the storm in Matthew 8, Pastor K focuses on verse 27 where the disciples asked the question “What kind of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”. Pastor K challenges us through taking us to the story of Genesis 1:27 and Genesis 2:7 that God created and formed man just to be like Him. We need to find out what kind of man Jesus was so that we can become just like Him. 

There is something about you that don't know, that you need to discover just like the angel told Gideon in Judges 6 that he was a mighty man of valor yet he did not even know. Jeremiah 1:5 is used to further drive the point that it is only the Lord who knows who we really are. The prayer that we should make is that God show us who we are, may He show us who He has created us to be.

Pastor Henry titles this message Continuous Assessment borrowing the term from the department of Education to link this to our spiritual walk. He reads from 2 Corinthians 13 where Paul went to the Corinthian church to do a continuous assessment on their faith so that they are not left behind in the curriculum of God. We need to do a continuous assessment in our lives to determine where we stand in our relationship with Christ, to determine if we are still on the right path to eternal life. In 2 Corinthians 13:5 Paul says "Examine yourselves to see if you are still in faith" meaning it is important that we continually assess ourselves to see if Christ is still in our hearts.

Luke 19:11-26 the parable of the ten minas, Pastor J uses this story to bring across a strong message that in order to receive more you have to work more. God expects us to excel, He wants us to be exceptional in whatever we do. The Lord applauds excellence, He says "Well Done!" to what is exceptional. The gifts and talents God has given are to be put to use, it is either you use it or you lose it. God wants you to receive more so whatever opportunity you are given, make certain that you excel.
