The São Silvestre Race consecrated two new two-time champions. This Friday (31), ethiopian Belay Bezabh and Kenyan Sandrafelis Chebet repeated the 2018 double and won the male and female elite disputes, respectively, in the streets of São Paulo.
The event brought together around 20 thousand runners, including amateurs and professionals.
Brazilian runner Daniel Ferreira do Nascimento faced Bezabh for a good part of the 15 km route, but felt the weariness at the end.
Better for the Ethiopian, who finished the race in 44 minutes and 54 seconds, just 15 seconds ahead of the Brazilian, who repeated the 2019 result and was once again the best athlete in the country at São Silvestre.
The difference is that, two years ago, he came in 11th place. Now he was runner-up.
In the women's race, two-time champion Chebet crossed the finish line on Avenida Paulista with a time of 50 minutes and six seconds, one minute and 20 seconds ahead of the second place.
The other three places on the podium were occupied by Brazilian women.
Finally, in the dispute between wheelchair users, the victories were for Leonardo de Melo among men and Josiane Nowicki in women.
