Rules of Engagement for Instagram in 2023
It can be frustrating to not see growth on your Instagram account. Even though you create content and put in the work, little to no engagement is being seen. It might even seem as if social media is working against you. It could be that you aren't using the Rules of Engagement to connect with your audience.
Instagram's Rules of Engagement
As part of the Rule of Engagement, you must give what you want to receive. Do you only post content instead of engaging with other accounts and people? Maybe this is why you aren't seeing the growth and engagement numbers you want. On Instagram, more people are simply consuming content than engaging with it. As a result, we need to train our audience to engage. The content you publish must lead your audience to take action with an amazing happy ending, also known as a call to action. An engagement sticker can be used for this (but please use them correctly).
Another area you need to focus on is your content. I find it interesting that Instagram is increasingly pushing out photos and carousels. Over the summer, Instagram's CEO commented that they had pushed Reels out too hard and wanted to focus more on photos and carousels. Although you should still create reels and stories, maybe it's time to experiment with photos and carousels again. In this episode, I share with you some easy ways to test these types of content without spending hours on them.
