Are you like the Bison, or like the Cow? Follow along here...

Let's evaluate an interesting juxtaposition of how these two animals deal with an incoming storm. One of the most fascinating characteristics of the Bison is how they react when a storm is coming. While cows, their close relatives, huddle together, the Bison take the storm head on, traveling directly into its path. 

Rather than waiting out the storm or running away from the storm, the Bison charges directly into the storm, taking it head-on and running right through it. This has the effect of reducing the amount of exposure to the storm. Meanwhile, cows have a different reaction. They run away from the storm, receiving the brunt of the storm in the process. 

This symbolism is a great analogy for us human beings. When things get hard our natural inclination may be to run from it, avoid the pain, bury it, delay it, procrastinate it, kick the can down the road and we end up "making a mountain out of a molehill."

The best way to handle conflict, to handle the storm, is to channel our inner Bison and run straight into it, deal with it head on! It is then that we work through it and conquer it, rather than allowing it to conquer us.

Further, how about the fact that Bison roam wild and free and have autonomy over their lives while cows are domesticated, captive and dependent.

So next time we face a challenge lets RUN. Straight. Into. The. Storm.
