Tom Grant is a Boston qualifier, a marathon maniac and a regular running partner of mine. He's also one of Ashland's local ultrarunners.

Tom and I have covered probably a few thousand miles together over the years. Tom is training for his first 100 miler and right now that's probably the most exciting thing going on in the Center of the Universe!

In this episode, Tom and I go along for a run and talk about his upcoming race, his training, and what keeps him motivated to do the long stuff.

I had some tough back to back training weeks and achieved a new weekly mileage total as a result (60 miles). My Mississippi Trail 50 prep is going well and I'm pleased with my progress. But there is always something that can go wrong and my recent 26 mile training run had a few kinks. Thanks for listening to the podcast!

I DNF'd at the Willis River 50k [Fat Ass] event on January 10 in Cumberland, Virginia. I have a slew of excuses! Not all was lost though. I did run/walk 35k and got to feel the nice feeling of winter creek water soaking through my shoes repeatedly. That and more in the show. Thanks for listening!
