On this episode of the LCHF podcast Janet has submitted her question to Vinnie Tortorich. Vinnie, Janet says she’s been running for many years and has now been following the low carb healthy fat or Banting diet for about 14 months. She’s lost 14kg and she can run short distances up to about 15km or 10 miles, no problem, just with water and possibly a couple of what we call Super-C sweets here in South Africa, it’s like those Lifesaver sweets you were talking about in a previous podcast, but as soon as she gets further than that, she doesn’t finish well.

What must she eat before a race in order to keep her blood sugar regulated. She’s not a huge fan of Coca Cola and during the week she tends to eat meals from Dr Noakes book, The Real Meal Revolution, maybe occasionally too many nuts, but she’ll have the social glass of wine as well. What is she doing wrong and how can she improve her running performance from a nutrition point of view in the build up to a big race?
