On 3 August 2003, he finished 19th in the 10 km Capitola Santa Cruz Pier-to-Pier Swim in Santa Cruz, California in 2 hours 57 minutes 50 seconds at the age of 32.
On 10 August 2004, he completed a 33.8 km crossing of the English Channel from England to France in 12 hours 31 minutes at the age of 33.
he participated in a relay across the Maui Channel from the island of Lanai to the island of Maui in 2008
he completed the Marathon Des Sables in 2010
On 29 July 2012, he completed a 41.3 km crossing of Lake Ontario from Lakeside Park to Coronation Beach Park in Oakville, Canada in 24 hours 26 minutes 3 seconds at the age of 41 to join the 24-hour club
he swam a mile in each of the Great Lakes of Canada in 2016 together with Mauro Campanelli, Loren King, Lynn De Lathouwer Rodgers, Bud Seawright, Hilda Leahy, and Geoff Farrow.
