THE BASKETBALL NEXUS WEBSITE PRESENTS

COACH LENNY KREBS & THE MENTAL EDGE ACADEMY PODCAST

https://rustbelt-mentaledge.vercel.app/

My name is Derek Sheridan & I own the Basketball Nexus website (https://coaching-nexus.myrustbeltbasketball.com/) & the Rustbelt Basketball Coaches Network, LLC.  I am excited to announce that we have formed a professional partnership with Coach Lenny Krebs & the Mental Edge Academy (MEA).

We're always looking for ways to give our athletes an edge, and this fall we found one worth sharing. Rustbelt Basketball has partnered with Mental Edge Academy, a mental performance training program built specifically for athletes and coaches, and we want to make sure you know what it includes.

You'd be in good company. Programs already using Mental Edge Academy include:

• Warsaw

• Northridge

• Northwood

• Concord

• Mishawaka

• Plymouth

• Bremen

• Winamac

• South Bend Riley

• Central Noble

• Belmont (girls basketball, defending state champion)

• Crown Point

• DeKalb

• Jimtown

• South Knox

• University of St. Francis, Fort Wayne (women's basketball)

• University of St. Francis, Fort Wayne (men's basketball)

This is the core of Mental Edge Academy: a full year of mental training built right into the season, not a one-time workshop.

Daily Mental Workouts: short, daily mental training activities built into athletes' routines so mental reps happen as consistently as physical ones.

Weekly Office Hours: a standing weekly touchpoint for athletes and coaches to work through whatever's coming up in real time.

Monthly Assessments: a recurring check-in that tracks where each athlete stands and how they're trending over the season.

Confidence Coach: a guided tool built to help athletes work through confidence and performance anxiety.

Reflection Coach: a structured space for athletes to process games, practices, and setbacks so the lessons actually stick.

Coach Debrief: a regular debrief built for coaches, so they get the same reflection process their athletes do, with a coach's lens.

Parent Toolkit: resources that bring parents into the process, so what's being built at practice doesn't get undone at home.

Through this partnership, the 365 Day Program is available at $1,000 for one team, or $1,500 for both your boys' and girls' programs together. This pricing is available through the end of October. (Normally $2,500 per team.)

For a lower-commitment starting point, Mental Edge Academy also offers the Basketball Training Camp. The key difference from the 365 Day Program: the Training Camp runs for the length of your basketball season rather than year-round, so it's a shorter commitment built specifically to give one team a shared language and toolset for confidence, focus, and handling pressure. It's an ideal way to kick off a season or reset mid-year, and teams can roll straight from the camp into the full 365 Day Program later if they choose.

The camp includes daily AM/PM mental fitness activities, a pre-game Confidence Coach and post-game Reflection Coach, and team-wide tools your athletes can start using right away.

One team (boys or girls): $ 500. Both boys and girls teams together: $750 total

Normally $2,500 per team

This pricing is available through the end of October.

And every package, camp, or year-round also includes Coach Forward 7 at no additional cost, a free coaching development resource with tools and support built specifically for the people leading the teams.

This special is not limited to Ohio.

Both of these offers expire at the end of October.

Click below to send Lenny a quick email and set up a one-on-one conversation about the full program and what it could look like for your team. ([email protected])

RBCN BASKETBALL NEXUS STATE OF THE GAME E22:

COACH NICK CRANDELL, BASALT HS, CO:

Coach Nick Crandell – Bio

Nick Crandell is the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Basalt High School, bringing over a decade of coaching experience and a track record of building winning programs in rural Colorado communities.

Crandell began his coaching career in 2013, working with youth players, laying the foundation for his development-focused approach. In 2019, he transitioned into middle school basketball while continuing to invest in youth development through 2021. His ability to connect with players and build fundamentals led to an opportunity at the high school level, where he joined Grand Valley High School as the Boys JV coach.

In 2022, Crandell was promoted to Head Coach at Grand Valley, where he took over a program that had been below .500 since 2018. Over the next few seasons, he transformed the program into a competitive, respected program, culminating in a winning season in 2025. During his tenure, Grand Valley finished as league runner-up, made a trip to the state regionals, and saw two players advance to the collegiate level. His teams also produced six All-League selections, eight Honorable Mention All-League players, and more than 20 CHSAA Academic All-State athletes—an accomplishment that stands out in a rural athletic landscape.

In 2025, Crandell was hired as the Head Coach at Basalt High School, where he continues to build a culture centered on development, accountability, and team-first success.

As a player, Crandell competed at Rifle High School, earning All-Conference and All-State Honorable Mention honors. He went on to serve in the United States Navy, where he played on the All-Navy Basketball Team. Crandell’s coaching philosophy is rooted in player development, adaptability, and building teams that are tough, unselfish, and hard to scout.

In a COVID-shortened 2020-21 season, he led Olivet to a 2-16 overall record. One of the wins was an 85-83 victory over Spring Arbor University, which had beaten Olivet earlier in the season.
