Rusty set of wheels

Listen Later

Rusty set of wheels

She said things are looking bright, I got most everything I need

3 dogs, 2 horses, a dependable ride and the means to succeed

Now for somebody to compliment the situation with all that appeals

And I’m wondering what that noise is driving along in my rusty set of wheels

Yeah, I’m a ’62 Malibu that’s been left outside for far too many years

Need my share of body work, I think I might have lost a couple gears

But if I was on American Pickers those boys would be lookin’ at one of them steals

Cause they would see the true beauty hidin’ under my rusty set of wheels

Window’s got a film from road trip doobies and the tires could stand some air

Despite the age I ain’t got too many miles, cause I haven’t been going anywhere

Get behind my wheel and sit yourself down and just imagine how it feels

New coat of paint and some work on my engine take a spin in my rusty set of wheels

A rusty set of wheels will turn nary a head

They say give me a pretty shiny one instead

It’s not worth the effort, the sweat and elbow grease

A big fast shiny ride is what you’ll need to please

A rusty set of wheels just won’t get you anywhere

Imagine all the laughter, how the people would stare

No, a rusty set of wheels would never suit my taste

Work too hard to settle for something so lower caste

Well, I’m going to be the envy of those who appreciate

The classic rumble of my engine as your windows vibrate

But I’m not going to cover up the spots, don’t go for the fancy ordeals

Cause there’s a certain kind of beauty in my rusty set of wheels

When I head into town, and pull into the parking lot

The buffs will crane their neck to see what I’ve got

I may not be the prettiest, but I still have some appeal

There’s plenty of magic left inside this rusty set of wheels
