She has penned songs for some of the biggest artists in the world, winning several awards for her work as a composer. Now, she is stepping into the spotlight with her own music.
The amazingly talented Ruth-Anne Cunningham came into The Fergal D’Arcy Show today for a live session. She performed her brand new single ‘It Is What It Is’ which she told Fergal was “about a toxic, grey area relationship where you are not together but 'involved'. This song is really about that bittersweet acceptance that the relationship 'is what it is' and I can't do anything to change that, so I've got to move on".

She also did an incredible cover of Lady GaGa and Bradley Cooper’s ‘Shallow’ from the soundtrack of 'A Star Is Born'. Chatting about her work as an artist, Ruth-Anne told Fergal it's important that there is another Irish female artist out there - "We are truly songwriters in this county...we are real, normal people and I really want to represent our country in the female side of things. We have a lot of men doing it but I want more females doing it!".
Ruth-Anne also spoke about how she’s massively flattered by couples using her song ‘The Vow’ in their wedding ceremonies saying she gets a video of a bride walking down the aisle to it "nearly every day". We even had a bride to be on the line to thank her!
