In this podcast, Dr. Cook interviews Dr. Jeffrey Jensen who is the is Professor and Associate Dean of the Arizona School of Podiatric Medicine at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona.
Dr. Jensen has been an active researcher throughout his career and has been the principal investigator of over 30 multi-center clinical trials for wound care related drugs and medical devices. He has also generated over $5 million in research grants from the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense, and various state organizations. His research has resulted in 11 patents for products addressing diabetic foot wounds, fractures, and infections.
His most recent research project involves a $1.97 million Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) grant. This grant assessed parameters for delivery of gaseous Nitric Oxide under pressure (gNOp) as an antimicrobial for multidrug-resistant organisms. This successful research provided the platform and foundation for Hansen Pharmaceutical, which is currently conducting animal trials to optimize delivery.
