In this podcast, Dr. Cook interviews Dr. Duncan McRae, Jr. Dr. McRae currently works as advisor and teacher of third year medical students for the UAB School of Medicine, Montgomery Regional Campus. He received his MD degree from Vanderbilt University and his surgical training at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, VA. After completion of his training in 1981, he and his family moved to Montgomery, AL where he practiced General Surgery for 33 years until he transitioned to Surgical Clerkship Director for UABSOM in 2014. For the past 5 years he has been working with medical students and learning the nuances of medical education.

His career in surgery evolved from a general approach for 25 years into a greater concentration in breast and endocrine disease, especially thyroid and parathyroid disease.

In this podcast, Dr. Cook interviews Dr. Jeffrey Jensen who is the is Professor and Associate Dean of the Arizona School of Podiatric Medicine at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona.

Dr. Jensen has been an active researcher throughout his career and has been the principal investigator of over 30 multi-center clinical trials for wound care related drugs and medical devices. He has also generated over $5 million in research grants from the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense, and various state organizations. His research has resulted in 11 patents for products addressing diabetic foot wounds, fractures, and infections.

His most recent research project involves a $1.97 million Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) grant. This grant assessed parameters for delivery of gaseous Nitric Oxide under pressure (gNOp) as an antimicrobial for multidrug-resistant organisms. This successful research provided the platform and foundation for Hansen Pharmaceutical, which is currently conducting animal trials to optimize delivery.
