Pharmacists are vital to patient kidney care, but why is the method of prescribing changing? The eGFR equation has been championed by APhA and the National Kidney Foundation as the new primary kidney health equation.

The reason? Cockcroft-Gault had race as a deciding factor oftentimes leading to incorrect readings for non-white patients, whereas eGFR prioritizes skin area overall, regardless of color.
