Casey & I discussed his journey. From where he started, the Birmingham raised Grime Emcee had aspirations of being Birmingham’s biggest and brightest act. Casey didn’t stop there. This conversation is littered with inspiration and a dive into the mindset of a writer, performer and educator. Earlier this year Casey, the Birmingham Poet Laureate and winner of the Greater Birmingham Future Face of Arts and Culture 2020, showcased his new play ‘Grime Boy’, we discussed processes, where the play sits culturally in the city of Birmingham and how his writing now transcends his intended audiences.
