THE NEWSROOM SERIES FINALE SEASON 3 EPISODE 6: Reviewed!

We finally did it (we’re here) and we’re going from a pilot to a finale in the course of a handful of episodes. Season six truly is a season of wonders. And spoilers. It’s not just episode spoilers today, it’s whole show spoilers. Details spoilers. Quote spoilers. Character arc spoilers. Relationship spoilers. Will they won’t they … they did or did not spoilers! So yeah. It might be gibberish if you have never Newsroom’d. If you would like to Newsroom … maybe go listen to us reviewing the pilot and see if it tickles your fancy. Or if you’re ambivalent but enjoy hearing friends really (hurriedly) go into the weeds discussing the series finale of a show they have just finished watching … then great, we’re happy to have you! *shuffles papers*

Watch the finale of The Newsroom by going on to eBay and buying Season 3 of The Newsroom like I did dammit: ebay.co.uk

Shout out Hasan Mutlluuz on Dailymotion (you’ll have to do some scrolling and/or searching to find it but hey): https://www.dailymotion.com/hasanmutlluuz

Let’s listen to the actual greatest podcast in the world … roast Aaron Sorkin for 8 hours straight. That is right. As mentioned on our podcast (an up and coming podcast) they roast him good, hot diggety damn. But hey … it is my contention that if your art is just so damn unique to you that your corpus can be roasted for nearly 8 hours straight across various works … then surely … you have a singular-ass style! And surely this is what we should all be striving for. To be the most ourselves possible. But yes, let’s lol: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsYg97XM_6s

Ok now that we have the roasting out of the way and the critical temperature has been balanced out here … let’s watch Aaron Sorkin talking to David Brooks about CHARACTER. David Brooks is well into CHARACTER and as such, a pretty good conversation is had: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eucVNYQNGAs

Richard Lawson wrote a review of the series finale for Vanity Fair, which is well worth a read: https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2014/12/the-newsroom-series-finale

The Atlantic (before it was bad) explained to us the real life incident from 1998 that inspired “Operation Genoa” in the show: https://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2013/08/the-news-vs-i-the-newsroom-i-was-there-a-real-genoa-report-yes-in-1998/278795/

Special FAVE MOMENT FROM THE POD RECORD note for VIP read-the-whole-show-notes-members only: When Christopher started banging on about how it is an indictment of this sixth season’s #REVIEW1THING format that we don’t roll into the order of who guesses and scores first that smoothly (like has he heard heard our run ups to a thirty second game) … bro I literally don’t know what you’re talking about, who cares about the order!? OUR SCORES ARE LOCKED IN! I literally don’t know what you’re talking about when you bang on about this. Christopher, you came down here, insulted my format and demanded to know why we didn't prepare a better one. Let me add this to the conversation. For two years I've been listening to people like you say they can't believe no one's been prosecuted for these Wall Street crimes and after two years I'm still fuzzy on what crime was committed and who should be prosecuted for it. You're a podcast host who gets to spend an hour on one subject. And I'm at least an average consumer of news, and you have failed to get me to understand what you've called the most important story of the last ten years. So, after you get done telling me how badly we did *our* job last night, you may want to do an internal investigation of your own work.
