The Chicken or the Egg

Film? Book? Play? TV? No, despite how it may appear, Drew and Sam aren’t playing charades on Drewling Samantics this week; however there are some questions to be asked, and they’re certainly doing their best to make sure they answer them!

Many of us will have watched a production on stage or screen, and wondered where the idea first came from. Equally, reading a book often generates the thought that the subject matter would make a great film. But do we ever actually delve further into things and find out the origins of creations we’ve enjoyed? Or if certain stories have spanned multiple formats? Well in today’s episode the boys do exactly that!

Discussing some of their favourite productions, our podcasting pair take a deep dive into their origins - from the most prolific contributors, to the ideas that spawned massive franchises, this is a light hearted and fascinating look at what does (or doesn’t!) make a for great product. And with examples of books that have been made into films, movies that inspired musicals, plays that are based on real-life events, and almost every other combination you can imagine, this episode certainly covers the lot!

So it may not be quite as scientific as the chicken and egg debate, but to find out “which came first” in regards to some very familiar films, novels and stage shows, why not join the chaps now - even if it’s for no other reason than to confirm that occasionally Drew and Sam are capable of doing a little research!
