This week I talk to Tom Company who is the Portsmouth Northsea swim club Strength & Conditioning coach. With his roots in basketball Tom talks about how the two sports are similar and how training in the gym can improve swimming performance. We also discuss how Tom sees S&C as training similar sporting shapes such as a track start in athletics and a track start in swimming. We bring up the subject on how gym based cross training can be benefit all levels of swimmers throughout their time swimming, whether that be at the beginning of the swimming journey in the development squads all the way up to National and International swimming.
