Deaconess Pamela Boehle-Silva joins host Steph Neugebauer to share about mercy and love for an aging parent, as we follow the story of her mother’s health decline due to dementia. Pamela also offers a very raw and honest look at grief – from the perspective of grieving over a loved one while they are yet alive, and also from the perspective of experiencing grief after the death of a loved one. Pamela’s gift to listeners is to point to the One who bore our griefs and carried our sorrows.
Bio: Pamela Boehle-Silva has the joy of being able to blend the profession of nursing with the vocation of deaconess. She graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in 2011 and now serves as deaconess at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Rocklin, California. She has traveled to Kenya, Sudan, South Africa, Tanzania, and India working alongside deaconesses and pastors to promote Christ’s mercy of body and soul. She has been to Kenya over a dozen times and continues to provide mercy work there. She has also walked the Camino de Santiago, a five hundred-mile trek through Spain with her husband, twice!
A California girl, she is married to Dennis, fellow hiker and first grade teacher. They have two grown children, Kali and Christian. She loves reading, writing, traveling, gardening, cooking, yoga and walking.
