Brother Joe & Brother John combine to encourage the saints of God, as we struggle to live in the midst of a world filled with conflict and evil. An elder is an overseer inf God's household. Therefore, he must meet standards worthy of assisting the man of God. He can not be arrogant, hot-tempered, or a bully. Instead, he loves goodness, acts sensibly, desires righteousness and holiness. The application of God's word (received in the local assembly), processes him to assist the work of God to move forward. An elder learns self-control and steadfastly holds "faithful" the message as taught by the man of God to encourage others with sound teaching and by example and, when necessary, refute those who contradict it.
