i'm not a religious man. i prefer to think of myself as a simple country boy incapable of connecting to anything larger than himself, and the thing he's presented with in the mirror, because ultimately his only sentiment in life is that which pursues the pleasure of his immediate necessities.
"who needs money and power? you can't take it with you!"that's what they always tell us. i assume they're trying to get across the idea that consumerism is bad, and the pursuit of wordly possessions is meaningless. which, i mean, overall i agree with that, but it's weird because it's not like you get to take your lovers and personal accomplishments with you either. it's death we're talking about, here. when you die the whole thing goes out the window. all your shelves and ottomans, but also all your sisters and friends. the whole thing is gone, you take none of it with you.
what's the lesson here? i don't know, maybe it's time to accept jesus into your heart, OR, maybe it's time to start burning things down.
tbd.
