(Warning: Graphic content is used) The legacy of Emmett Till possesses so much upon our history. The galvanization of the Civil Rights Movement wouldn't have been possible without the choice of making the murder of Emmett Till a public matter. The outrage from the Black community sparked enormous portions of awareness around this case, along with the pivotal decision from Till's mother to hold an open-casket funeral. This has been an amazing process, writing and documenting this case after knowing it for such a long time. The legacy of Till and his murder has been such a pivotal moment in my life, showing me the horrific realities of racism, but also the choices that these notable activists and figures made to turn this pain into purpose.
