Do courts allow 50/50 long-distance co-parenting for kids? Saying 50/50 suggests that the parents are splitting their time. If one of the parents is living out of state, will the court still call that 50/50? 50/50 doesn't mean parents have to be there every other day or every other week. 50/50 could mean one is getting the academic year while the other parent gets all the vacations. The court has the tendency to match the court order to reflect reality. Custody arrangements not reflecting reality, the court is loathed to consider it. What can you do to reflect the reality of the existing custody arrangement?  File a motion to change the court order to reflect the reality. The court will be agreeable to that. It makes more sense to the court. Have the order reflect the current conditions of the custody arrangement.
