Most of the time parents express they want 50/50 custody of children. It makes sense that parents would want that. Children are born from both parents. They should be raised in an environment with input from both parents. One parent's influence should be equal to the co-parent. It should continue even after divorce. You can have one parent marginalizing the other parent. Children should have equal access to both parents. There are things Mom should handle and there are things Dad should handle. It's part of the total picture of parenting one's children. There should be equal sharing of the financial responsibility. Both parents should be working with a similar amount of money. There are challenges to a 50/50 custody arrangement. When the home is shared, 50/50 custody can be easy. Parents in different states and different cities will have logistical challenges. You will need to communicate. You will need to do a lot of tweaking in the custody arrangement.
