S2E2: SWAY - Where Grid and Ocean Meet

Listen Later

This week Mother-Nature decided we’d move from theory into practice as we talk (and I get to walk) Grid Logic and Ocean Logic as dialectical, living, breathing forces: structure and flow, containment and wildness, and what happens when they start working together instead of fighting for dominance.

Most of the episode revolves around a convo that happened yesterday that reminded me what a self-righteous dickhead I can be when activated, and how said convo gave me the chance to practice what I preach.

I also touch on this idea of sway and how it’s built into buildings and bridges so they don’t break, and how that metaphor is on point for seeing how Grid and Ocean can work together. And how we see that function pretty well not just in relational ways but creative ones too.

Content note
Language; mention of patriarchy/sex work; interpersonal conflict. Lots of cussing.

SIDE QUESTS FOR YOU:

Both of these are mentioned in the episode and are serious throwbacks to early to mid 2000s. Enjoy.

A.) In 2005 my friends and I made a short film called SWAY based on one of my journal entries. If you want to laugh with/at a 23 year old version of me (in the last thing I ever acted in) you can check that out HERE.

B.) The amazing Ani Difranco song I mentioned called Buildings and Bridges where I first began to ponder this idea of sway being built into structures and how powerful that is. Thank you, Ani! Click HERE for that.
