S2E29 - Greening the Desert

Listen Later

There are myriad plants coming up in areas where I have successfully been able to infiltrate water. Many of these do not need irrigation, including native sunflowers, hardy ground covers, and various grasses. It is extremely exciting to see and very gratifying. The B&B and campsites are much closer to being done and will soon be ready to list. The check dam is fairly lush, even without any more rain events pretty much all month. I am itching to get back to doing the earthworks but need to get the B&B and camp done first. Either way, watching the desert turning green is not only further proof of concept but fills my heart with a kind of joy that is hard to describe. Many trees in the greebhouse will probably go in the ground this Fall rather than languish another year in their pots. One walnut survived!
