OXFORD HIGH SCHOOL SHOOTING PART TWO

Near Detroit, Michigan 

On November the 30th 2021, a 15 year old student came out of the bathroom and opened fire. Tragically four students lost their lives and seven more were left with injuries. 

 In PART TWO we are again joined again by Frank DeAngelis and Meggan Preston as we look at the significance of the legal charges that make this case so unique. 

As regular listeners know, we usually take a look in depth at the killer’s background, looking at pinch points along where somebody could have seen something and said something. Understanding what the behaviors of concern are is key to preventing these shootings in the first place. However, as this particular case is so recent and still being tried in court the details of his background are light but we will circle back to it in a later episode.

This is a watershed case, with not only domestic terrorism charges being laid against the shooter but involuntary manslaughter charges against the parents. Will it change the way parents allow their children to have access to weapons?

There is so much to unpack in this case that we have split it over two parts. We are joined by special guests, Frank DeAngelis, former Principal of Columbine High School and Katherine’s niece Meggan Preston who lives 30 minutes away from Oxford School.
