The Shannon Show

S2E4 : Boundaries + Accommodations w/ Briar Harvey

Listen Later

This week's episode of the Shannon Show covers everything from setting boundaries with Southern and Midwest Moms to the struggle of self-advocacy when you're already low on spoons and who better to have this conversation with than the founder of the Neurodiversity Media Network herself, Briar Harvey?!

***Trigger Warning : Talks of mental health struggles***

In this episode, we discuss what makes a boundary and what is needed for an accommodation and how helpful it can be to have a plan for what's needed *before* it's needed, especially if you are prone to getting frazzled, going non-verbal or any number of challenges ND folks deal with when advocating for themselves. We also talk about the difference between nature based neurodivergence (i.e. Autism and ADHD) and nurture based neurodivergence (i.e. psychological trauma) and why that's important.
