This week I speak to Sam Madden who coaches the Junior Silver squad at Portsmouth Northsea as well as being a Swim Teacher at a local swim school. We discuss how to develop the later stages of learn to swim ready for progression into a competitive environment as well as progressing kids into opportunities outside of competitive swimming. Sam also talks about how we identify swimmers who are ready for progression and swimmers who are ready to move into club swimming. We also talk about the importance of not rushing children through the stages and the importance of waiting and nurturing swimmers until they are ready to progress.
