Today we’ll be speaking with Nancy Rodriguez.
She grew up in a working class family in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of New York City. Her parents, who came to New York from Puerto Rico, understood the value of education and made sure she received a good one. She attended her neighborhood school, then Fordham University, where she graduated with a Bachelor's in Psychology, and finally Hunter College CUNY for a Master's of Social Work. She has spent hundreds of hours helping dozens of families navigate DISD's Special Education and disability services system and has attended countless ARD and 504 conferences. She has
addressed the DISD Board and lobbied its members on multiple occasions, advocating for policies that protect kids at school and ensure that every child receives a free appropriate public education. She understands, first-hand, what is actually happening in our schools
