S2EP015 - Hang out with fit people to get fit

Listen Later

Getting fit isn't just about working out. A giant part of it is developing thought patterns and mindsets that other fit people have. And guess what? It's not all just sweat and grunts and bravado. Josh argues that "geeking out" and getting into the nuts and bolts of it actually helps. Functional areas to develop your thinking in include:

Gear- New personal gear can get you excited and motivated and help you feel good about yourself (shoes, shorts, shirts). Taking an interest in the specs of the equipment your using helps too.

Knowledge- Especially of anatomy, exercises, and systems of exercise.

Routines- Your personal routine such as note-taking, preparation rituals, scheduling

Community- Exercise used to be called "Physical Culture" after all!

Also,

Jordan is in the middle of a trade war with Bulgaria, is she a net-importer or net-exporter of Split Squats?

Why do so many exercise names have tough-sounding European countries attached to them?

Speech of the Week starts at 34:48 and is "A little better, a little more". You can see what Josh wrote about that here: https://www.pcflongmont.com/post/speech-of-the-week-a-little-better
