Our last lesson, "God is in Control of Every Situation," showed us that God chartered a course for the life of each of His elect children. If my problem is impatience, He will give me "tribulation that worketh patience." If your problem is idolatry, He may remove the person or thing from your life you love most. The point is that each elect is dealt with individually according to their needs.

While Biblical examples of lives like Hannah or Paul are essential for our learning, ultimately, our goal is to be like Jesus. His humility is remarkable: "though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God as a thing to be grasped" (Philippians 2:6). To comprehend the nature of the Father, we need to look no further than Jesus (John 8:19), but he is not here on earth. It is easy to follow someone to whom we are not held directly accountable.
