Despite holding firm for the majority of the first half against the rampant Liverpool strike-force, a controversial and contentious penalty after Mohamed Salah was ‘tripped’ inside the box by Mamadou Sakho. This changed the completion of the game, but still saw Roy Hodgson’s side in the game before Aaron Wan-Bissaka was sent off for bringing down Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane scored after a swift counter-attack.
