This week I speak to James Swatton the Learn to Swim Coordinator for Winchester City Penguins Swimming Club. We discuss the charity work the club does and how this informs their direction as an organisation. James also talks about the advantages of distance badges and the stage awards in order to keep the kids progressing. This leads on to the conversation of being perfect over 10m and how this will help swimmers develop more than being able to make a 25m with poor skills. Lastly we finish off with a question about how Winchester use communication within the team to be able to plan and guide the progression of swimmers from the learn to swim to the top of the competitive ladder.
