In this shorter episode, Dr. Lee talks about the idea of choosing your pain.
At a recent 5-day empowerment event hosted by the Institute, she went into the neurobiology of how our nervous systems work and what they are designed to do (primarily avoid pain and seek out pleasure). Because the avoidance of pain is prioritized in most cases, it influences our habitual behavior. This can make change a challenge.
She talks through making choices consciously, in a trauma-informed way, and actually finding a way to make the changes in our lives and our relationships that we truly desire to make.
