As the sun sets on this victorious day, I know the celebrations will last long into the night, and the days or months, or even years to come. But, with this new and huge void, I fear that another force will try to fill what has been destroyed.

My father is no longer with us; he risked his life for mine, but at what cost? I grew up being told he died many years ago, before I was born. I was told my mother died in childbirth, and that I know is true. But what other lies have I been told. But I must not dwell on those. I must be here with my sister, with my friends, to celebrate this momentous day. A victory so many have fought for. A victory so many have died for. And I and thankful for every one of them.

Tonight, on this moon, among these these trees, I celebrate with many, for a life that we thought would never happen.

I will play a big role in new world, I can sense it.
