The U.S. House of Representatives debates S.5355, the National Advisory Council on Indian Education Improvement Act, on December 17, 2024.

The bipartisan bill ensures that the National Advisory Council on Indian Education, also known as NACIE, contains at least one member who is a leader of a tribal college or university. The measure has the support of tribal colleges and Indian education organizations.

Following debate, the House passed S.5355 by a voice vote. The bill has already passed the U.S. Senate so it can now be sent to President Joe Biden for his signature.
