The bottom line is that nobody knows you better than yourself. People will spread rumours or critique you in hurtful ways. However, only change yourself if you agree that they are correct, but if they are not, the best and healthiest thing for you is to laugh it off. This way, you find peace and you understand that most times they are incorrect because they are just projecting their own insecurities onto you.
