"Gratitude is the thief of joy." I heard this phrase very early on in my life, and it was my first real lesson into why gratitude is such an important practice. I always say that gratitude is life's greatest teacher, and I stand by that because it taught me so much about having an abundance mindset and appreciating what I have in the present. It has taught me that my life is never lacking, because whatever I have in the present is only what I need in this moment.

"There is a strange comfort in knowing that no matter what happens today, the sun will rise again tomorrow".
One of my favourite things about the bad days are how much they test us and push us toward our thresholds. We always find it slightly more difficult to be grateful during the bad days, but this is where is counts most. Be thankful for the lessons learned in the bad days, because they carry far more valuable teaching than what you learn on the good days.

Something I always love quoting is the Stoics because I always feel as if they've cracked the code for life. Ideally, we grieve the things we do not have because we are constantly wondering what it would be like to have them. If we focus on the things we have at present, we will discover that there is a lot of gratitude to be given because we understand that we were once grieving this, but now we have it. We should always rejoice rather than grieve because this allows us to save our joy and find contentment.

Gratitude is the most important thing that we can practice in this world. Without this, we develop a mindset of lacking, which makes us compare ourselves to others, and this stills away our joy. This is how we retain our happiness and how we stay with a clear mind. Focus on your sphere of control and find a way to push through everything.
