“Every individual makes enough difference that if everyone does it, then change happens. It’s a really hard thing to consolidate and to come to terms with. I need to feel that I’m useful but not take the weight of the world on my shoulders.”
This week on the podcast I invited the lovely hosts of URN’s EcoFrenzy, Erin and Gabby, for a chat about sustainability, student radio and doing your bit to prevent climate change without making yourself overwhelmed by guilt. Our chat made me realise how much I enjoy having conversations about the environment. I’ll definitely be having them more going forward.
We spoke in depth about ableism and classism within the climate movement, making dietary changes that work for you, and how large corporations have pushed blame onto the consumer. All topics which are incredibly nuanced but important. We all feel like there’s a lot of guilt surrounding university lifestyle when it comes to sustainability but hopefully this episode can be reassuring that if you’re doing what you can, that is enough.
Thank you to Erin and Gabby for coming on, you can tune into EcoFrenzy on URN every Saturday 5-6pm!! Would really recommend!
