Hello again, listeners, and welcome back to Horror Hill. I’m your host, Erik Peabody, and we’ve got two spooky stories for you tonight.
First, from Matt Howes, we have a delightful period piece titled “The Sunken City.” In the grand tradition of HP Lovecraft, our protagonist is hunting down rumors of a lost city in the uncharted waters off of southern Africa. It seems that new obstacles are popping up at every step of his journey, but he dauntlessly (and potentially foolishly) perseveres. What horrors await him in the sunken city? Will he escape with his life, and his sanity intact? Who can tell...
Following that, we have “Road Killer,” by Geddy Cahoon. Our story opens with our hero (and believe me listener, I use that term loosely) named James, as he’s extracting his shoe from some sun-baked roadkill on an empty stretch of highway in the desert. Poor James’ car has broken down, and he’s already late for an appointment with his ex-wife and his son, two people that James does not hold in high regard. Unfortunately for him, his troubles are just beginning. I love a story that has a solid piece-of-shit protagonist, and James is absolutely someone that I love to hate.
