Beverley Schäfer is the Minister of Economic Opportunities, Tourism & Agriculture in the Western Cape Province, and she was invited to speak at Blockchain Africa 2019, Africa's leading conference for the Blockchain and DLT industry.

Minister Schäfer is behind the Western Cape's rise to the top of South Africa's "highest average income" list, and is passionate about economic development in the country. One of the key areas for economic development is of course in the Tech industry, and with Blockchain being such a prominent area of R&D and development, Minister Schäfer couldn't turn down such an opportunity to be a keynote speaker at the conference.

James Preston of SA Crypto caught up with The Minister after her address, in which she highlights the need for innovative tech like Blockchain, and the need to support entrepreneurship in the Western Cape.

While at Blockchain Africa 2019, James Preston caught up with Premier Helen Zille. In her keynote address at the Cape Town conference, Premier Zille outlined the remarkable innovation that Blockchain is, and its opportunity to eradicate corruption and even drive economic growth.

In the interview, James asked Premier Zille about how she first came to hear about Blockchain, and how her Provincial Government could potentially see it implemented into their administration.

The 7th interview from Blockchain Africa 2019 (#BAC19) was with founder and CEO of one of SA's oldest crypto exchanges, Richard de Sousa. Altcoin Trader was one of the first exchanges on the African continent to offer direct purchasing and trading of cryptocurrencies outside of the Top 2 (Bitcoin and ETH). James caught up with the new COO of ICE3x crypto exchange over skype to find out what they're up to. Eugéne Etsebeth is a significant influencer in the South African crypto space, having been a technologist at the South African Reserve Bank, and writing for the likes of Forbes and speaking internationally.
