  • S1EP06: The Dimensions of Entitlement

The pandemic has featured wide ranges of emotions and experiences. Along with the changes in our lifestyles and routines, we have seen the polarity of human behavior - from kindness and empathy to seeming indifference and entitlement. How do you describe someone who is entitled? Do we recognize ourselves when other people tell us that we are entitled? What can entitlement do to a person?

This episode features an insightful discussion with the administrators of the Facebook pages, The Masters Psychological Services and Ako si Freud. Listen to sir Christian Nicomedes, sir Ronn Avila, and sir Axle Bardolasa as they provide critical points about their concepts of entitlement. Our discussion cover how the Filipino culture such as the constructs of hiya and kapwa may affect entitlement, and how social media contributes to the phenomenon.

  • S1EP05: Guys and Mental Health

They say that men are 'wired' differently... aren't they? In societies where men are expected to be 'strong' and to be 'quiet' when they experience difficulties, how do men perceive discussions about mental health?

This episode includes a trigger warning for the following topics: broken families, spirituality and religion, professional contexts.

In this episode, James Casino and Justine Reyes cover a variety of topics that include the Alice in Wonderland syndrome, family issues, spirituality, political views and how it affects their friendships. They also shared top 3 topics that should be addressed by mental health professionals that can significantly help men. We hope you become one of our partners in encouraging guys to speak up, to talk about their problems, and to seek professional help when necessary.

  • S1EP04: Balancing Act 101: The Life of a Working Student

Students are expected to do their best in school. However, not all students are given the privilege to solely focus on homework and projects. Being involved in extra-curricular activities may even be out of the question. Having been a part of the academe, I have seen how students cope and manage different struggles, but I found myself in awe when I encountered working students. Their determination to juggle their studies and work motivated me to make my lessons as relatable as possible, highlighting the importance of how their actions reflect their values and belief systems outside the classroom.

This episode features Rocky Torio and Dully Calicdan who shared a few things about how working students balance requirements from two different environments. BONUS: You'll also get to listen to one of Rocky's songs. Subscribe to her YouTube channel: Rocky Torio at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCT1J_cYNCWiKEa0EbQyXkWg

  • S1EP03: Throwback No. 1: Understanding the Self

Understanding the Self is a course that deals with the nature of identity, as well as the factors and forces that affect the development and maintenance of personal identity (CHED, 2017). Through this course, students are encouraged to discover their strengths, weaknesses and potentials. Various topics allow them to challenge their own beliefs, and explore their goals and possible changes in their thinking patterns and behavior.

Listen to the first throwback episode of the podcast where I and three of my former students talk about the subject, Understanding the Self. Jaymee, Evory, and Myrian talk about the most memorable lessons and class discussions and how these things affect them today. BONUS: I gave them a chance to ask me a question (something that they might have felt shy to do inside the classroom).

  • S1EP02: Kaartehan. Drama. Fake: Ending the Stigma as Expressed by Non-Psychology Students

Despite efforts to educate people about mental health, stigma about people who have mental health concerns continues to be an alarming issue in the society. In this episode, let's listen to four students discuss their observations, experience, and comments about ending the stigma. These students are not enrolled in Psychology, and their views offer a different lens as we learn more about how we can collaborate to slowly close the gap between mental health professionals and community members. With this episode, we aim to dispel the fear of seeking help and isolating individuals who have experienced and currently experience mental health issues.
