마태복음 (Matthew) 5:13-16 [새번역/ESV]

13 "너희는 세상의 소금이다. 소금이 짠 맛을 잃으면, 무엇으로 그 짠 맛을 되찾게 하겠느냐? 짠 맛을 잃은 소금은 아무데도 쓸 데가 없으므로, 바깥에 내버려서 사람들이 짓밟을 뿐이다.

“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet.

14 너희는 세상의 빛이다. 산 위에 세운 마을은 숨길 수 없다.

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

15 또 사람이 등불을 켜서 말 아래에다 내려놓지 아니하고, 등경 위에다 놓아둔다. 그래야 등불이 집 안에 있는 모든 사람에게 환히 비친다.

Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.

16 이와 같이, 너희 빛을 사람에게 비추어서, 그들이 너희의 착한 행실을 보고, 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하여라."

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

마태복음 (Matthew) 13:33 [새번역/ESV]

33 예수께서 또 다른 비유를 그들에게 말씀하셨다. "하늘 나라는 누룩과 같다. 어떤 여자가 그것을 가져다가, 가루 서 말 속에 살짝 섞어 넣으니, 마침내 온통 부풀어올랐다."

He told them another parable. “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened.”
