God's Covenant Blessing

창세기 (Genesis) 9:12-16; 12:1-3 [새번역/ESV]

12 하나님이 말씀하셨다. "내가, 너희 및 너희와 함께 있는 숨쉬는 모든 생물 사이에 대대로 세우는 언약의 표는,

And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations:

13 바로 무지개이다. 내가 무지개를 구름 속에 둘 터이니, 이것이 나와 땅 사이에 세우는 언약의 표가 될 것이다.

I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.

14 내가 구름을 일으켜서 땅을 덮을 때마다, 무지개가 구름 사이에서 나타나면,

When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds,

15 나는, 너희와 숨쉬는 모든 짐승 곧 살과 피가 있는 모든 것과 더불어 세운 그 언약을 기억하고, 다시는 홍수를 일으켜서 살과 피가 있는 모든 것을 물로 멸하지 않겠다.

I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh.

16 무지개가 구름 사이에서 나타날 때마다, 내가 그것을 보고, 나 하나님이, 살아 숨쉬는 모든 것들 곧 땅 위에 있는 살과 피를 지닌 모든 것과 세운 영원한 언약을 기억하겠다."

When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”

1 주님께서 아브람에게 말씀하셨다. "너는, 네가 살고 있는 땅과, 네가 난 곳과, 너의 아버지의 집을 떠나서, 내가 보여 주는 땅으로 가거라.

Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you.

2 내가 너로 큰 민족이 되게 하고, 너에게 복을 주어서, 네가 크게 이름을 떨치게 하겠다. 너는 복의 근원이 될 것이다.

And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.

3 너를 축복하는 사람에게는 내가 복을 베풀고, 너를 저주하는 사람에게는 내가 저주를 내릴 것이다. 땅에 사는 모든 민족이 너로 말미암아 복을 받을 것이다."

I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

3 모든 사람이 호적 등록을 하러 저마다 자기 고향으로 갔다.

And all went to be registered, each to his own town.

4 요셉은 다윗 가문의 자손이므로, 갈릴리의 나사렛 동네에서 유대에 있는 베들레헴이라는 다윗의 동네로,

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David,

5 자기의 약혼자인 마리아와 함께 등록하러 올라갔다. 그 때에 마리아는 임신 중이었는데,

to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child.

6 그들이 거기에 머물러 있는 동안에, 마리아가 해산할 날이 되었다.

And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth.

7 마리아가 첫 아들을 낳아서, 포대기에 싸서 구유에 눕혀 두었다. 여관에는 그들이 들어갈 방이 없었기 때문이다.

And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

8 그 지역에서 목자들이 밤에 들에서 지내며 그들의 양 떼를 지키고 있었다.

And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9 그런데 주님의 한 천사가 그들에게 나타나고, 주님의 영광이 그들을 두루 비추니, 그들은 몹시 두려워하였다.

And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear.

10 천사가 그들에게 말하였다. "두려워하지 말아라. 나는 온 백성에게 큰 기쁨이 될 소식을 너희에게 전하여 준다.

And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.

11 오늘 다윗의 동네에서 너희에게 구주가 나셨으니, 그는 곧 그리스도 주님이시다.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

12 너희는 한 갓난아기가 포대기에 싸여, 구유에 뉘어 있는 것을 볼 터인데, 이것이 너희에게 주는 표징이다."

And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.”

13 갑자기 그 천사와 더불어 많은 하늘 군대가 나타나서, 하나님을 찬양하여 말하였다.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

14 "더없이 높은 곳에서는 하나님께 영광이요, 땅에서는 주님께서 좋아하시는 사람들에게 평화로다."

“Glory to God in the highest,

and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

24 그 뒤에 얼마 지나서, 그의 아내 엘리사벳이 임신하고, 다섯 달 동안 숨어 살면서 이렇게 말하였다.

After these days his wife Elizabeth conceived, and for five months she kept herself hidden, saying,

25 "주님께서 나를 돌아보셔서 사람들에게 당하는 내 부끄러움을 없이해 주시던 날에 나에게 이런 일을 베풀어 주셨다."

“Thus the Lord has done for me in the days when he looked on me, to take away my reproach among people.”

26 그 뒤로 여섯 달이 되었을 때에, 하나님께서 천사 가브리엘을 갈릴리 지방의 나사렛 동네로 보내시어,

In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth,

27 다윗의 가문에 속한 요셉이라는 남자와 약혼한 처녀에게 가게 하셨다. 그 처녀의 이름은 마리아였다.

to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin's name was Mary.

28 천사가 안으로 들어가서, 마리아에게 말하였다. "기뻐하여라, 은혜를 입은 자야, 주님께서 그대와 함께 하신다."

And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!”

29 마리아는 그 말을 듣고 몹시 놀라, 도대체 그 인사말이 무슨 뜻일까 하고 궁금히 여겼다.

But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be.

30 천사가 마리아에게 말하였다. "두려워하지 말아라. 마리아야, 그대는 하나님의 은혜를 입었다.

And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

31 보아라, 그대가 잉태하여 아들을 낳을 터이니, 그의 이름을 예수라고 하여라.

And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.

32 그는 위대하게 되고, 더없이 높으신 분의 아들이라고 불릴 것이다. 주 하나님께서 그에게 그의 조상 다윗의 왕위를 주실 것이다.

He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David,

33 그는 영원히 야곱의 집을 다스리고, 그의 나라는 무궁할 것이다."

and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”

5 유대왕 헤롯 때에, 아비야 조에 배속된 제사장으로서, 사가랴라고 하는 사람이 있었다. 그의 아내는 아론의 자손인데, 이름은 엘리사벳이다.

In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah, of the division of Abijah. And he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.

6 그 두 사람은 다 하나님 앞에서 의로운 사람이어서, 주님의 모든 계명과 규율을 흠잡을 데 없이 잘 지켰다.

And they were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and statutes of the Lord.

7 그런데 그들에게는 자녀가 없었다. 엘리사벳이 임신을 하지 못하는 여자이고, 두 사람은 다 나이가 많았기 때문이다.

But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and both were advanced in years.

8 사가랴가 자기 조의 차례가 되어서, 하나님 앞에서 제사장의 직분을 담당하게 되었다.

Now while he was serving as priest before God when his division was on duty,

9 어느 날 제사직의 관례를 따라 제비를 뽑았는데, 그가 주님의 성소에 들어가 분향하는 일을 맡게 되었다.

according to the custom of the priesthood, he was chosen by lot to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense.

10 그가 분향하는 동안에, 온 백성은 다 밖에서 기도하고 있었다.

And the whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the hour of incense.

11 그 때에 주님의 천사가 사가랴에게 나타나서, 분향하는 제단 오른쪽에 섰다.

And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

12 그는 천사를 보고 놀라서, 두려움에 사로잡혔다.

And Zechariah was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him.

13 천사가 그에게 말하였다. "사가랴야, 두려워하지 말아라. 네 간구를 주님께서 들어 주셨다. 네 아내 엘리사벳이 너에게 아들을 낳아 줄 것이니, 그 이름을 요한이라고 하여라.

But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.

14 그 아들은 네게 기쁨과 즐거움이 되고, 많은 사람이 그의 출생을 기뻐할 것이다.

And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth,

15 그는 주님께서 보시기에 큰 인물이 될 것이다. 그는 포도주와 독한 술을 입에 대지 않을 것이요, 어머니 뱃속에 있을 때부터 성령을 충만하게 받을 것이며,

for he will be great before the Lord. And he must not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.

16 이스라엘 자손 가운데서 많은 사람을 그들의 주 하나님께로 돌아오게 할 것이다.

And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God,

17 그는 또한 엘리야의 심령과 능력을 가지고 주님보다 앞서 와서, 부모의 마음을 자녀에게로 돌아오게 하고 거역하는 자들을 의인의 지혜의 길로 돌아서게 해서, 주님을 맞이할 준비가 된 백성을 마련할 것이다."

and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.”

6 한 아기가 우리를 위해 태어났다. 우리가 한 아들을 모셨다. 그는 우리의 통치자가 될 것이다. 그의 이름은 '놀라우신 조언자', '전능하신 하나님', '영존하시는 아버지', '평화의 왕'이라고 불릴 것이다.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility.

28 하나님이 그들에게 복을 베푸셨다. 하나님이 그들에게 말씀하시기를 "생육하고 번성하여 땅에 충만하여라. 땅을 정복하여라. 바다의 고기와 공중의 새와 땅 위에서 살아 움직이는 모든 생물을 다스려라" 하셨다.

And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.

23 그뿐만 아니라, 첫 열매로서 성령을 받은 우리도 자녀로 삼아 주실 것을, 곧 우리 몸을 속량하여 주실 것을 고대하면서, 속으로 신음하고 있습니다.

And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

로마서 (Romans) 1:20-27 [새번역/ESV]

20 이 세상 창조 때로부터, 하나님의 보이지 않는 속성, 곧 그분의 영원하신 능력과 신성은, 사람이 그 지으신 만물을 보고서 깨닫게 되어 있습니다. 그러므로 사람들은 핑계를 댈 수가 없습니다.

For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

21 사람들은 하나님을 알면서도, 하나님을 하나님으로 영화롭게 해드리거나 감사를 드리기는커녕, 오히려 생각이 허망해져서, 그들의 지각없는 마음이 어두워졌습니다.

For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

22 사람들은 스스로 지혜가 있다고 주장하지만, 실상은 어리석은 사람이 되었습니다.

Claiming to be wise, they became fools,

23 그들은 썩지 않는 하나님의 영광을, 썩어 없어질 사람이나 새나 네 발 짐승이나 기어다니는 동물의 형상으로 바꾸어 놓았습니다.

and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

24 그러므로 하나님께서는, 사람들이 마음의 욕정대로 하도록 더러움에 그대로 내버려 두시니, 서로의 몸을 욕되게 하였습니다.

Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves,

25 사람들은 하나님의 진리를 거짓으로 바꾸고, 창조주 대신에 피조물을 숭배하고 섬겼습니다. 하나님은 영원히 찬송을 받으실 분이십니다. 아멘.

because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

26 이런 까닭에, 하나님께서는 사람들을 부끄러운 정욕에 내버려 두셨습니다. 여자들은 남자와의 바른 관계를 바르지 못한 관계로 바꾸고,

For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature;

27 또한 남자들도 이와 같이, 여자와의 바른 관계를 버리고 서로 욕정에 불탔으며, 남자가 남자와 더불어 부끄러운 짓을 하게 되었습니다. 그래서 그들은 그 잘못에 마땅한 대가를 스스로 받았습니다.

and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 사람들이 하나님을 인정하기를 싫어하므로, 하나님께서는 사람들을 타락한 마음 자리에 내버려 두셔서, 해서는 안될 일을 하도록 놓아 두셨습니다.

And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.

29 사람들은 온갖 불의와 악행과 탐욕과 악의로 가득 차 있으며, 시기와 살의와 분쟁과 사기와 적의로 가득 차 있으며, 수군거리는 자요,

They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips,

30 중상하는 자요, 하나님을 미워하는 자요, 불손한 자요, 오만한 자요, 자랑하는 자요, 악을 꾸미는 모략꾼이요, 부모를 거역하는 자요,

slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,

31 우매한 자요, 신의가 없는 자요, 무정한 자요, 무자비한 자입니다.

foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.

데살로니가전서 (1 Thessalonians) 5:9 [새번역/ESV]

9 하나님께서는 우리를 진노하심에 이르도록 정하여 놓으신 것이 아니라, 우리 주 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 구원을 얻도록 정하여 놓으셨습니다.

26 하나님이 말씀하시기를 "우리가 우리의 형상을 따라서, 우리의 모양대로 사람을 만들자. 그리고 그가, 바다의 고기와 공중의 새와 땅 위에 사는 온갖 들짐승과 땅 위를 기어다니는 모든 길짐승을 다스리게 하자" 하시고,

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

시편 (Psalm) 139:13-16 [새번역/ESV]

13 주님께서 내 장기를 창조하시고, 내 모태에서 나를 짜 맞추셨습니다.

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb.

14 내가 이렇게 빚어진 것이 오묘하고 주님께서 하신 일이 놀라워, 이 모든 일로 내가 주님께 감사를 드립니다. 내 영혼은 이 사실을 너무도 잘 압니다.

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

히브리서 (Hebrews) 11:3 [새번역/ESV]

3 믿음으로 우리는 세상이 하나님의 말씀으로 지어졌다는 것을 깨닫습니다. 보이는 것은 나타나 있는 것에서 된 것이 아닙니다.

By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.
