  • In the Spirit on the Lord's Day
This sermon establishes Sabbath keeping as a vital spiritual discipline that fosters discernment, maturity, and faithfulness. Drawing primarily from Revelation 1, the speaker argues that believers should gather on the first day of the week to celebrate Jesus' resurrection rather than adhering strictly to the Old Testament Sabbath. The message emphasizes that the Lord's Day is designed for rest and remembrance, serving as a liberty for humanity and a worship offering to God. It challenges listeners to guard this day from cultural profanation by prioritizing divine principles over personal convenience or rigid legalism. Ultimately, faithful observance of this day provides a foretaste of eternal rest and aligns the believer with God's holy structure.

  • "The Lord of the Sabbath"
The sermon explores the transition from the Old Covenant to the New Covenant through Jesus' teachings on fasting and the Sabbath. By examining Luke chapters 5 and 6, the message highlights how religious rituals like fasting were often performed for show rather than genuine devotion. Jesus clarifies that He is the Lord of the Sabbath, fulfilling the law rather than abolishing it. Bro. Warren emphasizes that believers must abide in Christ, the Lawgiver, rather than relying on legalistic adherence to old rules. Ultimately, the central call is to trust in Jesus for salvation and to share the hope of the New Covenant with others.

  • What's the Difference?
As they wander through the wilderness, deprived of normal sources of water and food, the Israelites continue wrestling with God and His plan for them. This is not the liberated existence they envisioned. Feeling the frailty of their bodies and the uncertainty of their future, they repeatedly grumble and complain against Moses and against the Lord. And God repeatedly and distinctly provides for them. He gives them miraculous bread from heaven and sanctified rest from labor. He prescribes Sabbath rest whereby they are to do no work on the last day of the week but are simply to rest and receive from the provisions of the previous day. It will be a holy, set apart day for them to reflect on the difference of living life by the provisions of God alone rather than by their own efforts. Once again, it all points forward to the ultimate provision of God through Christ, from whom we receive for our souls, both bread, spiritual sustenance (Jn 6) and relief, spiritual rest (Heb 4) for our souls.
