International Relations Minister, Naledi Pandor, has described the recent violent activities in the country as an embarrassment for South Africa.

South Africa is not an island, it belongs to the continent and the global village. These were the words of Bafana Bafana newly appointed head coach Molefi Ntseki as he was appealing to the perpetrators of the Xenophobic attacks in South Africa to stop.

Football personalities have condemned the Xenophobia attacks that are currently happening in some parts of Gauteng. Bafana Bafana friendly match that was supposed to have taken place in Lusaka, Zambia this Saturday was cancelled due to the attacks. Nigerian TS Galaxy assistant coach and former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs defender Muisi Ajao and former Orlando Pirates striker Jerry Sikhosana came out strongly against the attacks.

South Africa’s Minentle Miya arrived home to a tumultuous welcome on Wednesday from the 2019 World Cadet Chess Championships in China. The 8-years-old chess wonder girl, represented South Africa in the tournament from August 20 till September 2. She came home with four-points in the bag, trailing back from the South African record of 6.5 points. Miya’s coach Israel Tshabadirha says that the tournament was difficult as Miya started off the games with highly rated Sodgerelt Naranbold from Mongolia.

The excitement is building up as the Proteas this week run through their last bit of preparations at the Tshwane University of Technology in Pretoria ahead of their Tour of India. South Africa will take on India in three T20 internationals followed by three Test matches starting on September 15. Proteas team director Enoch Nkwe says he has been keeping in contact with all the players in the squads for the tour including Test captain Faf du Plessis.

Botswana shuttered Banyana Banyana’s hopes for Tokyo 2020 Olympics at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday night.
