Kaizer Chiefs newly signed striker Lazarous Kambole is proving to be a hit with Amakhosi fans judging by the votes of the Carling Black Label Cup. Whilst veteran striker Bernard Parker leads the vote with 100 000 votes for Chiefs, following him in the second placed is Kambole, a player who was confirmed only last month as a new Chiefs player. The Zambia international striker ahead of their much expected last pre-season match against arch-rivals Orlando Pirates at FNB stadium on Saturday, is promising to repay the fan’s faith come this weekend.

South African Football legend Professor Mlungisi Ngubane says the state of football in the country is disappointing. Ngubane believes the South African Football Association (SAFA) has to jerk up if our national teams are to improve their performance in international tournaments. Ngubane says the senior national team (Bafana Bafana)’s performance at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt is a good example of how bad things are.

Imraan Khan says he was not overly surprised about his appointment as Dolphins coach after he was confirmed in the role by the KwaZulu-Natal franchise on Tuesday. The former Proteas batsman who took over from Grant Morgan, who vacated the position earlier this month to take over as assistant coach of Scotland, has been handed a one-year deal at Kingsmead.

Teko Modise may have retired from playing at the end of last season, but the Cape Town City man is still as passionate about football as ever. The former Bafana Bafana international has stepped off the field, and into the offices at City as he begins the next chapter of his career behind the scenes. Modise says he is very excited about his new role as Executive PRO, and he is looking forward to challenging himself in a different capacity.

Black Leopards new defender Siyabonga Zulu says his move up North is a fresh start. Zulu joined Leopards on a three year deal this week after spending the last week training with the club. City are hoping to at least double their season ticket sales from last season and, have reduced the prices on the package deal fans of the club. Young Toyota Cheetahs flanker Abongile Nonkontwana says the Free State side has integrity on and off the field. The Cheetahs got their Currie Cup season off to a strong start last week when they beat Nonkontwana’s former team, the Vodacom Blue Bulls 43-27 at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria. The Port Elizabeth born player has been with the Cheetahs since early last year. He says coach Franco Smith has instilled high levels of integrity in the side.
