Chairperson of SA Schools Rugby Noel Ingle has stressed the importance of enjoying the game for rugby players in order to unleash their potential. Ingle was speaking at the U/18 SA Rugby Craven Week in Bloemfontein this week. The games started on Monday and will continue with five matches to be played in the Craven week games and seven in the Academy week games.

Council of Southern Africa Football Association (Cosafa) made a draw for both the women senior national teams and the Under-20 national teams at their headquarters in Johannesburg on Wednesday. The two tournaments will take place in Port Elizabeth in August. Banyana Banyana have been drawn in Group A alongside Malawi, Comoros and Madagascar, while the Under-20 team Bantwana has been paired in Group A together with Namibia, Zimbabwe and Malawi. Cosafa Secretary-General Sue Destombes is happy the U20 is part of the tournament this year.

Springboks captain Siya Kolisi is expected to be out the first few weeks of the upcoming Investec Rugby Championships due to a knee injury which has seen him out of action for the past four weeks.

Former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs player Brian Baloyi was also present at the draw.

Banyana also won the tournament in 2017 in Zimbabwe. Captain Janine Van Wyk is looking to use the tournament to regain their confidence.

South African women senior national team Coach Desiree Ellis will use the Cosafa (Council of Southern Africa Football Association) cup to prepare for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic qualifiers.
