Anglo American Platinum says the two week long strike by Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) was unnecessary. The Food and Allied Workers Union says it has taken note of the Constitutional Court decision, which effectively holds it liable to pay compensation in an unfair dismissal case. This after the union bungled a case brought by two of its members against their former employer. Earlier court judgments had held the union liable and ordered it to pay R200 000 in compensation.
