Steve preaches about how we all experience cognitive dissonance in our lives and the process we go through while trying to follow Jesus and dealing with our sin. Cognitive dissonance is the discomfort experieced when simultaneously holding two or more conflicting cognitions; ideas, beliefs, or values. Steve does a great job explaining how that applies to our lives and how God gives us a way to deal with this conflict we all go through at some point in our lives.

This week, Sunday, August 18, 2013, Jeff Bailey delivers our sermon entitled "Distinct or Extinct" about how our lives as disciples of Jesus Christ is meant to be a distinct life. A life that is separate from the world rather than one that blends in with the world. Jeff makes a point that the Spirit of God now dwells in you, so he asks, "how's the temple doing?" His sermon begs to ask the question, do you have a distinct life with Christ or are we allowing ourselves to blend in so much with the world that our faith and relationship with God is teasing the line of extinction?

This week, Sunday, August 11, 2013, Keith Davis delivers his sermon entitled "God Is Better" where his sermon paints a beautiful illustration of how God views us verses how we view ourselves. Keith speaks about how often we tend to focus most of our energy on resisting sin and temptation rather than just choosing God, fixing our eyes on Jesus and realizing that God Is Better.

This sermon was delivered by three of our brothers in our congregation: Kwamina Arkoh, Bryan Levin, and Chris Pontino. They delivered this sermon after coming back from the ICMC West 2013 conference in San Diego, CA.
